Wordpress Plugin Updated

Filed under: php, yui, ajax, css, javascript, code — Dav Glass @ 9:01 am

I just updated my YUI Rich Text Editor plugin for the 2.4.0 release. I have fixed a couple of issues and checked to make sure the plugin works on WordPress 2.3x as well as the 2.2x version.

I also changed out the comments Editor with the new SimpleEditor Control. It will help with those concerned about page weight.

Enjoy :)

Definitely an improvement on my YUI comment editor. I pulled my version from my blog after I couldn’t figure out why buttons refused to spring to life in 2.4.I see you got around the lifeless issue by creating and destroying a Button, a hack I never guessed. What’s going on in that bit of code that suddenly breathes life into the Editor?

    Niall –

I haven’t tracked down the issue yet, but I am working on it :D

Hello, your editor is great! Im using it right now.But i have few questions:I have a small width for implement the editor in the comments, if i enable it, it will go over my layout…is any way to set the width in the php files?A good thing is an option panel to set it…And another, is there a way to use plugin, like that to insert imageshack images directly in the editor? This is a common behavior, if you try to click the link to insert the image automatically, it will return nothing…Anyway it’s a good editor, better than other i tried.Good work!p.s. sorry if i miss something in the comment, im not english or american…

For some reason the comment editor is not working in firefox on my blog but is working in IE.  Obviously it is not a firefox issuing since I am submitting this comment via firefox.  please help

Ok the problem with firefox seems to have fixed itself…I couldn’t even place the cursor in the text field but now I can.  However, after typing a comment it won’t submit.  When I click on the Submit Comment button nothing happens.

  7. MyAvatars 0.2 Adele Says:

Nevermind.  I figured out the problem.  My theme gave the comment form the id “comment_form” and your script was looking for “commentform”

Trying to figure out how to get the RTE to insert a “<u>” tag instead of the “<span style=”text-decoration: underline;”>”. Having problems with people pasting word document content into the RTE, and all those ugly MS tags hanging around in there mess up the content. I figured out a way to strip out all the tags except a list of allowed tags, but this way won’t work w/ tags that have attributes, like the span tag, so if I could get the RTE to insert a <u> instead, I’d have this one figured out. Thanks much for any help.

In the yuirte-comments.js file, change line 10 from ‘xhtml’ to ‘default’. That will tell the editor to not filter the data into an XHTML format.

Is it possible to force the editor to paste plain text?  I’d love to provide readers an elegant way to use simple styles, but I don’t want to change the face and size of the fonts in my comment thread, or have other odd stuff pasted in.

Right now it’s not possible across all browsers to capture the past event.
