The Yahoo! Developer Network released a new set of API’s today. They opened up the “Yahoo! Mail Web Service APIs“. This set of API’s is possibly the best set to ever be released..
Back in Dec I posted about my latest win at Hack Day (you can read about that here). Well, now that the API’s have been released, I can show you my winning hack 
Note: This hack was built in around 12 hours and it has not been tested! The code is messy and could have been done better, but I wanted to get as much done as possible so I hacked it quite a bit!
So now on to the hack…
My hack was called “CandyGram Lite” and it was an attempt to rebuild the new Yahoo! Mail Beta with semantic markup and using the YUI tools. Not only to make it faster, but to make it work in all Grade A Browsers.

Well it’s official, I’m joining the crew on the YUI team. Eric has posted a nice note over at the YUI Blog about it.
I have to say I’m really excited and can’t wait to start. It’s going to be an absolute honor to work with that team.
And just so everyone knows, I will not give up on anything on this site. I will still maintain and continue to post examples and various utilities dealing with the libs.

1. Panel Tricks
This is a simple mouseover example with a panel.

Using the same technique, we use it to build more info bubbles for form inputs.

2. AutoComplete Trickery
This example shows “another way to look” at the AutoComplete widget.

3. TabView Hacks
This example shows how to make an animated TabView in about 10 minutes.

This example takes the code from the previous and turns a normal TabView widget into a nifty “Accordion” widget.

4. Animation Hacks

The purpose of my talk was to let everyone know that:
“You can’t judge a Widget by it’s name”
It’s a hard point to get across, I may write more about it later (if people want to know).

Today I gave my first public talk at Yahoo!. I think that the talk went pretty well The class was definitely full and a lot of people told me that they enjoyed it.
